AND NOW THE CONTINUATION. . .

[ I.S.F. Phlaan; Grath'nar-type deepspace cargo freighter ]
[ Shuttlebay Deck, Private Showroom ]

Commodore Elena Korsgaard and Lieutenant Commander Alasdair MacKinnon were ushered into the private showroom by a Risian Ironhull Shipforge. They introduced themselves as Tarev, a Customer Relations Specialist with Ironhull Shipforge. Tarev spotted the rest of their party: Captain Threlox, Grevak, and Vexil exited the Barzhhan-type shuttlecrafts and walked down the plank.

Captain Threlox led his mother and brother down the ramp. He hadn't noticed that Commodore Elena Korsgaard and his incoming Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Commander Alasdair MacKinnon, had been led into the private showroom. "The design is extremely impressive, brother. I think you might be more talented than our mother."

Grevak gave a porcine-like huff behind her sons as they were met by their Customer Relations Specialist, Tarev, and their distinguished guests. She replied proudly, "He'd better be. I trained him myself."

Tarev stepped forward smoothly, ready to make an introduction, before he was interrupted by the Captain.

"Commodore Korsgaard?" Captain Threlox raised an eyebrow when he noticed them, his surprise evident. "I'm surprised to see you here."

"Captain," the Commodore addressed him. The white-haired woman approached him. She was the tallest person in the showroom with her uniform boots, "It's my station, and I've known Grevak for fifteen years-"

"-Closer to twenty, Elena." Grevak corrected her.

"Twenty then," the Commodore replied with directedness -- her experience with Tellarites and her connection with Grevak well-prepared her for these exchanges. The Commodore looked over to the Scotsman, "Captain. I don't think you've met your Chief Engineer yet. This is Lieutenant Commander Alasdair MacKinnon. He's here to evaluate the shuttle to ensure that it meets Starfleet's approval."

Alec had remained quiet as the Commodore and his new Captain greeted each other. He had yet to meet his new commanding officer; most of his time since transferring aboard had been spent getting to know his new engines, and what engines they were, compared to the old girl he had been chief engineer aboard previously. In fact, he would probably still be crawling around in the starboard nacelle service tubes had Commodore Korsgaard, a previous commanding officer, not been the one to seek him out to inspect this new shuttle.

Korsgaard had been a good skipper, and he was happy to help, as well as take this opportunity to meet his new commanding officer at the same time. "Good day, Captain Threlox," He said warmly, with a thick highland accent."Tis a pleasure t'meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine, Commander," the Denobulan-Tellarite hybrid replied warmly while his larger-than-life grin lit up his face. The Captain looked over to his mother, brother, and their Risian employee, who were having their own conversation amongst themselves. His mother, Grevak, looked up to see her son, Captain Threlox, Commodore Korsgaard, and the lieutenant commander in the red uniform had all exchanged pleasantries.

"Is that a Scottish accent, I hear?" Grevak asked rhetorically, "The Scots are the Tellarites of Earthlings."

"Aye, Sir, that it 'tis" Alec replied with a grin. Knowing the Tellarites' deserved reputation as engineers. His senior instructor for Advanced Warp Propulsion Systems had been the genius Tellerite who had headed up the warp drive development project for the standard engine design used aboard many of the starship classes that had preceded the Constitution and her fellows now.

The Scotsman turned his gaze to the sleek shuttlecraft parked beside them. "She seems to be a fine looking lass, doesn't she?" he said as he walked to the shuttle, his eyes already taking in and analysing elements of the craft's design.

"My son might be your boss, but we are kin," Grevak responded matter-of-factly while both of her sons are still in earshot, "My eldest boy -- Vexil -- designed this shuttle." She had reached out for his wrist and dragged him over, "Vexil, this is the lieutenant commander that'll be inspecting the shuttlecraft. You be nice to him. Would you like some Scotch? I can have Tarev get you a glass of the finest. "A nineteenth-century Islay. Peaty, from my personal collection."

"Thank ye, that is a most kindly offer, ma'am!" and it was, nineteenth-century scotch was incredibly rare and valuable and far beyond his pay grade, as it were. "Though, begging your pardon, I would like to evaluate the shuttle before anything else" he said, with a half shrug, hoping they would understand his inability to join them with a drink while on duty and in the presence of a flag officer.

"The scotch will be waiting for you when you come back from evaluating the spacecraft," Grevak responded if it were originally her idea for the Scotsman to drink Scotch following his task at hand.

"Aye" Alec replied with a warm smile. If their host insisted, then who was he to say no?" I'll lolol forward to it" he said and turned his attention back to the sleek new shuttlecraft.

She looked over at Commodore Korsgaard, "So, who do you want on board my shuttlecraft?"

"Those two," Commodore Korsgaard pointed first at Captain Threlox and Lieutenant Commander MacKinnon.

"Vexil, you go with them to ensure that they don't manage to dent the manifold."
